Easter Sunday in the DR!

I know I'm a little jealous I'm not there on this very special Sunday, but I am so excited that the team had the opportunity to experience DR at Easter! Here is a post and some pictures from Cristine!

Easter Sunday in the Dominican....
Today was a good day. We spent our morning at the Haitian church in the community where Manoash Clervin translated for us. We enjoyed the afternoon by relaxing by the pool and some enjoyed a bit of a diving contest and then some Marco Polo. A great game of baseball was played with some of the Dominican children and then more pool time and relaxing before a dinner of chicken and rice. Then we wrapped up with team devotions. We had a couple spots of light rain earlier today and then a couple pretty heavy downpours this evening. Hoping that it is all done with and dried up by morning when we head back to the work site.

Saturday in the DR (pt. 2)!

Just got some more updates from Cristine!
Saturday Dominican update! Today was a big day for us. Morning sunrise, quiet time, and then after breakfast we headed to the church site. Some of us sanded walls, some shoveled sand, some sifted sand and some moved sand in the wheelbarrow. Some tied up some rebar and some shoveled and swept inside the church to clean the floors up and Erin Doan spent some time singing and sprinkling water in there (I heard it was to keep the dust down.but I'm not so sure about that)! We enjoyed a nice lunch and some pool/relaxation time and then headed back out. Our afternoon was spent with a community walk.. which was a different route than I have taken in the past so new sites were seen. Then we headed back to the church site to do an activity of crafts and coloring with the community kids. Necklaces were made, pages were colored, candy was eaten and BUBBLES were blown (Who doesn't LOVE bubbles!) before we headed back to camp for dinner and devotions. All in all it was a great day with great experiences. Everyone seems to be doing well health wise and spirits seem full. We've got some red skin peeking out...so more sunscreen is a must! Tomorrow we will enjoy our Easter Sunday with church at the Haitian church and hopefully some afternoon baseball!

Saturday in the DR!

Sounds like the team is doing awesome with some ministering at the Open Walls Church today!

Thanks, Sheila and Isaac G. for these pictures!

Our outreach at the Open Walls Church. Seth talked about Easter and what it is all about. The kids had cards that told the Easter story and they colored them. Almost could be the first sermon in the Open Walls Church!!

Made it!

The team made it, and spent the evening vegging at the camp. Here is a post and some pictures from Cristine:

"Well, the team made it to Los Alcarrizos safe and sound earlier today. We only had one person sick on the way here and now one with a severe headache. We are all very tired from the long day of travel. But, most of us enjoyed a refreshing dip in the pool and then we had a delicious dinner and spent some quality time as a team going over devotions.
Please be in prayer for those not feeling well and that we all get a great nights sleep and can start out tomorrow refreshed. We are looking forward to heading out into the community and doing some work."

And...They're Off!

The March team has departed, and is on their way to Detroit to catch their flight tomorrow morning. Keep them in your prayers as they travel and gear up for this experience! Many of them are first-timers and are very excited and nervous! You got this, team!
