Christmas Shoppe - Thank you!

Thank you to everyone that came out to Christmas Shoppe this year! We had so much fun and truly enjoyed a lovely day that truly embraced the upcoming season! Thank you, thank you! We most definitely couldn’t do this without our vendors, my team, and all who come! Congrats to Becky Roberson, our door prize winner as well!
We hope to see you next year!

Cozy Apple Pies!

The Crumb-Topped Apple Pie sale is underway!

The team is selling delicious, homemade pies for $10 each! Not only do these pies freeze very well, but will be just in time for Thanksgiving and all of your holiday needs. Just pop one in the oven and have it ready for that dinner you have to go to, that party that you're hosting, or a treat for your family (or just you - no judging here).
Email us at mcrc@mcrchurch.org if you would like one, or two. Never know when the family will pop in to visit. =)

Heading to the Dominican—Olivia & Jackson Kimes

Olivia: I always looked at the big DR family and thought to myself, “Man, I wish I could be a part of it.” I never really thought that I would get the chance to join and go on a trip, but this Spring it is happening! It couldn’t be better timing either, with my senior year I could tell God wanted to give me something to put new richness and perspective into my faith before I head off into the world. I am ecstatic, God is giving me this opportunity to grow stronger in my faith, and experience a heart to serve in a place that needs his light. I look forward to creating lasting bonds with the people I will meet, impacting people’s lives with service, and fulfilling God’s will to go out and be his people; to do good works in his name.

Jackson
: Some things I would like to get from this trip are the following: I want to see the world and know how they live in the Dominican, to grow my faith in God, and I want to  help small communities that need his love. Aside from a huge learning experience, I think the trip will be tons of fun and I am very excited!

Fair Week is Coming!

The Team is ramping up for the 2018 trips, and next week, they will be working the fair full time between manning ticket gates and selling goodies in the Grand Stands for events.
There are some shifts left to be filled for the gates. We could never do all that we do at the fair without the help of our extended team! If you are interested in jumping in with us, let us know! You

can email us at mcrc@mcrchurch.org and we'll get you all the info you need in the area you want to know more about! Or let us know if you want to snag a shift for fair!
See you at the fair, either way!

Days off and Working Hard!

Hey all!
Sorry I haven't been keeping up with this blog as much as I should be!
The team is still going strong, and even enjoyed some needed time off yesterday (Sunday). The crosses that were built for the Open Walls church were hung and dedicated, as Gene shared with the congregation, with some translating help from Luchy.
Sunday, the team spent some time at Tres Ojos, which are beautiful caves with 3 lakes, as well as spent some time at the old city in Santo Domingo, soaking up the culture and shopping.

Today, they were back to work, painting and even teaching some classes (Jacki, at least was), as well as handed out the photos we took of each student back in January.
Keep praying and sticking to the blog here for more!

Getting Ready for More

The team seems to be doing great!
Worked through their first day yesterday, at the Open Walls Church. Of course there was some fun to be had as well!
Today, they're getting ready for some more. Keep praying! Thanks all!

The crosses will be hung up at the church today!

In Los Alcarrizos

The team has made it to the DR, minus one. John had to return from Detroit with a bad rash that wasn't improving. Such a bummer for him, but he is home safe and hopefully healing!
Gene reported that the cross pieces for the church have made it as well.
They are all tired, I'm sure from a long day of travel, but are there! Keep praying for health, safety and growth!

Small, but Mighty Team!

Another small, but mighty team is heading to the Dominican Thursday! They will head down to Detroit on Wednesday, and catch their flight the next morning. Be in prayer for each of them in health and in ministry! We are excited for them to follow up with the church, school and look ahead to what is coming for the community of Los Alcarrizos!
Check back here for updates as they are away!

We prayed over the team this past Sunday to send them out!

Still Here!

Hello everyone!
I'm so sorry we haven't updated you in a day or so. We have been busy getting the church ready for tonight's dedication and getting the final photos of students and their classes before we take off tomorrow!
Yesterday, we also got to take a needed break and head into the city for some shopping and relaxing at the beach, and got back late.
We are all looking forward to tonight's service and the opportunities it will bring to this community!
For now, enjoy some photos from the last couple days:
